Brilliant Grieg performed by Pavel Eret and Suzanna Hlinka

(2009/4) Music critic Rafael Brom reviews in Hudební rozhledy (The Music Reviews) a complete performance of sonatas for violin and piano by Edward Grieg in the Suk Hall in Prague Rudolfinum in February 2009. Here is a translation of some passages of the review:

" Wonderful, nimble accents of the violin, which even in forte did not merge into one sound with the key instrument, was just one expression register of Eret's playing..."

"The second movement of the first Sonata confirmed another characteristic quality of Eret's playing - a sovereignty both in the rhythmical course from quasi marching regular tempo to parlando as well as to lyrical loose lovable melody and also in various dynamic positioning and in the partner coordination."

" The violin was able to be adequately robust in fortes and in accents, but also Scandinavian elegiac in touching passages including the introduction."
